Facts
Karmansbo Forge was an iron bar manufacturer- one of the biggest in the region.
At the turn of the 19th century production reached its peak and
75 workers produced approx.
5.000 tones per annum.
The forge was shut down and the production of the famous Lancashire iron ceased for ever in 1958. Karmansbo Forge is also an important part of
Ekomuseum Bergslagen where you can discover a lot of historical remains.

At Karmansbo village you will also find houses where the workers from the forge former lived and one apartment is furnished like in the beginning of 20th century and of course the nearby country house Karmansbo Herrgård, where the squire lived, make a great contribution to the environment. Read more about Karmansbo Forge at www.karmansbo.se
